Choosing where to eat on/near campus has always been a challenge for many. Grub Grabber is a map-based social mobile application that help make eating decisions based on time, budget and location.

Prototyping:

We went many iterations starting from sketches to mockups on whiteboard, and finally came up with a testable version of paper mockup.

Future Directions

Because of our time constraints, our group had to prioritize our to-do list and could not research or develop many other features we wanted to explore. In the future, we would like to implement the following:

RANDOMIZE FEATURE

Users should be able to adjust any # of filters and click a "Randomize" button, which will automatically select a qualifying restaurant that fits said parameters (instead of having to scroll through a list of options). 

DIRECTIONS

Users should be able to find directions to get to restaurant of choice by car, public transportation, or walking. Directions for car should include parking instructions and tips. Directions for public transportation should include which buses/etc. to take, what transfers will need to be done, how far the restaurant is from the bus stop.

TUTORIAL

Although GrubGrabber strives to have quick learnability and be intuitive, users should be able to access a short and simple tutorial that outlines all of GrubGrabber's features, to optimize the application use.

FACEBOOK INTEGRATION

Users should be allowed to use the application without logging in. However, logging into Facebook should allow a user to:

  1. Send a personal recommendation to a specific (or all) friends
  2. Send restaurant details to a friend for meeting up, etc.
  3. View the number of friends who have recommended a specific place
  4. Add a review

Research will have to be conducted on when the Facebook log in prompt will appear, when it becomes inconvenient, and how to integrate the user's logged-in information seamlessly into the application design.
